Kansas Power Plant Carbon Capture Project
Enchant is developing a carbon capture and sequestration project for a power plant in Kansas.
The project will retrofit the coal-fired power generation unit with a modular, potassium carbonate carbon capture technology to capture 2 million metric tons of CO2 per year. The CO2 captured from the project will either be sold to an oil and gas company for enhanced oil recovery or permanently stored in a nearby world-class geological storage formation.
The project is expected to qualify for 12 years of transferrable IRS §45Q tax credits (5 years of which could be direct pay) and be operational by the third quarter of 2029.
